Root Chakra
The root chakra, located at the base of the spine, is associated with the colour red and holds the lowest vibration in the human energy system. It is considered the earth element because when opened and fully functioning, it enables us to survive successfully and navigate the dense vibrations of the physical world. The root chakra gives us a sense of belonging, of being securely grounded so we can manifest our needs and deepest desires into physical reality. It ensures our primary concerns are looked after, giving us the practical instincts needed to keep our physical bodies safe and warm.
The etheric body (pictured right) is the first auric layer at the root chakra and gives us physical sensations. The etheric body extends 1/4″ – 2″ beyond the physical body. It consists of fine lines called nadis that form an energy matrix, a ‘blueprint’ of the physical body and all its internal organs. It is through these nadis that communication and vitality are brought to all parts of the human energy system.
Where these nadis (light strands) cross 21 times a major chakra is formed. Where these nadis cross 14 times, the 21 minor chakras result, and where these nadis intersect less frequently, smaller chakras occur. These smaller chakras seem to correlate with acupuncture or acupressure points.
It is from the energy field of this etheric body that the cells of our physical body grows and is shaped. The etheric body is in constant motion and is visible within the grey to light blue spectrum, with light blue indicating a more sensitive person.
